Barbara Jean Weaver, 80, of Avondale, died at 6:18 p.m. Sun. Oct. 21, 2018. She was born on March 15, 1938 to the late Charles and Thelma (Havens) Strickler. Barbara was a cook for 30 years for the Maysville School District. She was part of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Newton Township Fire Department and the Amrou Grotto Ladies Caldron. She and her husband Virgil Weaver were members of the Y-City Gold Wings. She was known for her pies and her good cooking.
She is survived by her daughter Karen (Daryl) Hurst of Philo, her son David (Tonia) Weaver of Avondale, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers Charles (Beulah), Harry (Patty), and Sam (Sophie) Strickler. Two sisters Mary Lou Grant and Lydia (Dick) Force. Sister-in-laws Alfreda Havens and Ginger Strickler, brother-in-law Ronnie Spring.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil B. Weaver, one sister Sandy Spring, two brothers Ken Havens and Jim Strickler.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tue. Oct. 23, 2018 at WILLIAM THOMPSON & SON FUNERAL HOME 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wed. Oct. 24, 2018 with Pat Wiseman-Jones officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Portersville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Newton Township Fire Department.
