On Saturday January 5, 2019 at Adams Lane Care Center our loving mother Evelyn Maria Carter made her final journey home. Evelyn was born on September 14, 1956 in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Carlos Rivera and Inez Ortiz. She is survived by her two loving children Crisoforo (Nicole) Avina of Crooksville and Jueanina (Melvin) Grimm of Zanesville. Her pride and joy  grandchildren Jueanina, Melina, Melvin Jr., Zechariah and Faith Grimm all of Zanesville, Dakota and MacKenzie Dilley of Crooksville. Her siblings David (Nilda) Rivera, Noami (Cookie) Rivera, Julisa Kitty Perez all of Lorain,Ohio. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Evelyn was an outgoing person that never knew a stranger. She loved her family, friends, and church family. She enjoyed dancing and singing and God was an important part of her life. She attended First Community Church of God until her health prevented her from attending. She was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and San Francisco 49ers. She spent most of her life in Lorain and then moved to Zanesville to be near her children. She had been employed at El Centro in Lorain where she loved helping people out. She truly had a heart of gold. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jonathan Carter. The family would like to thank Genesis Hospice, Adams Lane Care Center, CCU at Genesis and all the doctors, nurses, and staff for the amazing care given to Evelyn. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Wed. Jan. 9, 2019 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to William Thompson & Son Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
