Raymond L. Hecker, 82, of Zanesville, passed away suddenly at his home on Fri. Aug. 10, 2018. He was born on Sept. 5, 1935 in Beverly, Ohio, a son of the late Donald and Marian (Metze) Hecker. Ray worked in the banking industry for 43 years, retiring in 1995 as Senior Vice President of the Trust Department at First National Bank in Zanesville. After this he enjoyed working with his son Tom at Hecker Construction for another 20 years. He graduated from South Zanesville High School in 1954 where he was a star athlete in multiple sports. He served on the board at Heart of Ohio Girl Scout Council, board of trustees at M.A.T.C. and Zane State College, foundation board at Bethesda Hospital, longtime treasurer for Kiwanis, assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 146, enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and camping with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty (Kohler) Hecker. Four children Bob Hecker, Teri (Doug) Allen, Tom (Mary) Hecker, and John (Addie) Hecker. 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. One sister Dorothy Edwards. Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Bob Hecker. Sister-in-law Carol Hecker. Brother-in-law Neal Edwards. Daughter-in-law Rita J. Hecker.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Tue. Aug. 14, 2018 at WILLIAM THOMPSON & SON FUNERAL HOME 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where services will follow at 6:00 p.m. Keith Taylor officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army or Eastside Ministries.
