David Lee Searles, 92, of White Cottage passed away at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born November 21, 1929, in White Cottage, son of the late James & Mildred Searles. On March 11, 1949, he married Leona Driggs.
He was employed by Columbia Cement Plant until it closed. Dave also worked for the McClelland family helping build the Eagle Sticks Golf Course.
He attended the White Cottage United Methodist Church and was often found working at the church’s food stand at the Muskingum County Fair each year.
He was a member of Ohio Freemasonry - Muskingum Lodge #368 in East Fultonham.
He is survived by son, Michael (Traci) Searls of Zanesville, OH, and daughter Mary (Dave) Marty of Brownsburg, IN., 8 grandchildren—Chad (Valerie) Searls, Heather (Jason) Pettit, Aaron (Lori) Searls, Angie (Mike) Ewert, Jeromy (Kara) Searls, Jenny (Jeff) McCormick, Sarah (Ben) Marty-Schlipf and Ali (David) Swann, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a very special caregiver, Lori Cozart, and the family thanks the staff of Genesis Hospice Care as well for all their kindness.
In addition to his parents and wife Leona, David was preceded in death by a son, Homer Searls, and sister, Dorothy Dodson.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive in White Cottage where his funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation. Chad Searls, grandson and Dave Marty, son-in-law will officiate.Burial will be in Wesley Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care.
