Donald Wilbur Gainer Obituary

Donald W. Gainer, 86, of Zanesville, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Mon. Aug. 4, 2025 at Genesis Hospital. He was born on July 18, 1939 in Logan, Ohio, a son of the late Wilbur and Edith (Cottrill) Gainer. He was a United States Army veteran serving as a military policeman in Korea from 1962-1964. He was a longtime fastpitch softball pitcher.  He was retired from General Motors and also worked many years as a mechanic and worked in the oil field industry. He is survived by his wife Linda Gainer. Two daughters  Aimee (Howard) Twiggs and Jenny Gainer Frey. Six grandchildren Sarah Twiggs, Michele (Dalton) Kirkbride, Lauren (Kyle Morris) Williams, Nathan Gainer, Kaylee Gainer, and Griffin Gainer.  Two great-grandchildren Kora and Kallum Kirkbride.  Daughter-in-law Deanna Gainer. Sister-in-law Becky Stuart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son Michael Gainer, who passed away on March 1, 2021. One son-in-law Gary Frey.  Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
