Glenford "Glen" Kirkbride, Jr. Obituary

Glenford (Glen) Kirkbride, passed away on April 13, 2023 at his home after a 6 month battle with cancer. He was born on July 29, 1937 the only child of the late Virginia “Ginny” and Glenford Kirkbride, Sr.

Glen graduated from South Zanesville High School in 1956 where he played football. He began working at McGraw Edison and retired from there. Glen enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and golfing with his group of buddies. He achieved the joy of making his third hole-in-one on May 23, 2022. Years ago, he played raquetball and he even took banjo lessons at one time.

He was a fun-loving and generous guy and he lived life his way. He was fun to be around, but he had a wicked sense of humor and could trade humorous jabs with anyone who dared to step into that space. His family has so many great stories and memories of him that they will cherish forever. He and his wife enjoyed golfing together, playing cards with family and going out to eat.

He is survived by his wife Mary, of 66 years, his much-loved daughter Cathy Jo (Kevin) Randolph, as well as his grandson who brought so much joy to his life, Daniel (Jillian) Ford and a soon-to-be greatgranddaughter, River Ford, due in July. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws who loved him and always had fun when he was around, Kate Sharrer, Rose Gibson, Linda Kussmaul and a brother-in-law Mike (Barb) Nykile and several cousins, nieces, and nephews, his golfing buddies, and several Kirkbride and Jarrett cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-laws Harl Sharrer, Kenneth Gibson, and Paul Kussmaul.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal. He will be missed so much.

Glen will be cremated. In keeping with Glen’s wishes, his family has chosen to mourn privately. The family would like to thank Genesis Hospice for their support, compassionate care and kindness. The family requests donations to be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. William Thompson & Son Funeral Home is assisting the Kirkbride family.
