Gloria Elinor Schwartzmiller Obituary

Gloria Elinor Schwartzmiller, 96, of Zanesville, passed away at 7:00 a.m. Friday May 24, 2024 at Genesis Hospital. She was born on April 20, 1928 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Leora (Hunter) Coleman. Following high school, she worked at a local factory supporting the war effort. She graduated from Meredith Business College. She served as the treasurer for Maysville Local Schools for 26 years. She was an active member of Meadow Farm Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, Bible school teacher. and as the financial secretary. She enjoyed quilting, painting, gardening, and volunteering at the Friends of the Library Bookstore.


 She is survived by two children Dale (Nichole) Schwartzmiller and Nancy (Paul) Ragias. Two grandchildren Sam (Erin) Schwartzmiller and Marie (Ashton) Ragias-Gaitanos. Three great-grandchildren Scotia, Isla, and Loren Schwartzmiller. One sister-in-law Donna Coleman.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Loren Schwartzmiller. One grandson Nick Shepherd. One daughter-in-law Sandra Schwartzmiller. One brother Robert Coleman. 


Friends may call from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wed. May 29, 2024 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive in White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thur. May 30, 2024 at Meadow Farm Methodist Church with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. A luncheon following the service will be held at the Newton Fire Department in White Cottage.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter, Muskingum County History, or Meadow Farm Methodist Church.
