Janice Lee (Garretson) Filkins, 86, of Somerset, passed away Friday June 19, 2026 at Willow Haven Nursing Home. She was born on March 10, 1940 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Eula Garretson. She was a past member of the New Life Apostolic Church in Glenford where she played the piano for many years and was currently a member of the Anchor Church of Zanesville. Her church and faith were very important to her. She is survived by three sons Nathan (Dea) Filkins, Eric (Jeanette) Filkins, and Bryan Filkins. One daughter Kimberly (George) Thomas. 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-greatgrandchildren. One brother Larry (Donna) Garretson. Three sisters Patty Munyan, Jean Nicholas, and Lois Tabor. One daughter-in-law Patricia Filkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Emmitt Lee Filkins, Sr. One son Emmitt Lee Filkins, Jr. Four sisters Betty Lou Garretson, Elois Spring, Delma Smith, and Shirley Smith. One daughter-in-law Tina Filkins. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon on Wed. June 24, 2026 with a service to follow at 12:00 Noon at the Anchor Church of Zanesville 1365 Chamberlain Street Zanesville, Ohio 43701 with Pastor Aaron Bounds and Pastor Dan Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Horeb Cemetery.
