Ned G. Gibson, 93, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully the morning of Monday August 2, 2021. Ned was born on July 12, 1928 in Zanesville and lived on Maysville Pike his entire life. Ned proudly served his country in Korean War with the 1st Calvary. During his teenage years he worked as a butcher in the family business going to market in downtown Zanesville most Saturdays. Along with his brother Frank, Ned owned and operated Gibson Lincoln Mercury. Subsequently he owned Southtown Motor Sales. He also operated the State of Ohio License Bureau in Muskingum County for several years. Ned was a former Muskingum County Commissioner, having served from 1976-1980, Ned was an extremely hard-working, dedicated man.Ned was a long-time member of South Zanesville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughters Marian (John) Henthorne, Erin (Kelly) Cottrill, and Jennifer (Fred) Derwacter. Grandchildren Kacey Cottrill, Stephanie Butler, Emily Near, Shawn Ballinger, Rashell Melville, and Kara Derwacter. Several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Libby) Stultz Gibson who died in 2015. His parents Clyde and Thelma (Blake) Gibson. Two brothers Frank Gibson and Marion Gibson.
Friends may call from 6-8p.m. Wed. Aug. 4, 2021 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thur. Aug. 5, 2021 with great nephew Luke Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery where Zanesville VFW and American Legion will conduct military honors.
