Peter "Pete" Meredith Obituary

Peter E. “Pete” Meredith, 72, of Marietta, took his last ride in his big truck, with an Angel riding shotgun, to be reunited with his Heavenly Father, on Thursday March 28, 2024, with his loving wife Tamie and his beloved cats, Pippa, Oliver, and Ziggy by his side. Pete was born on March 15, 1952, to the late Edwin and Emiline Meredith, in Detroit, Michigan.

Pete loved his cats, his Dobermans, restoring cars and big trucks. Pete worked in auto body repair for 50 years. After retirement, Pete spent many hours watching Gunsmoke and relaxing with his cats. He loved the adventures he went on with his friends, be it white water rafting or just hanging out and talking shop.

Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law and friend.

In addition to his wife and cats, he is survived by his daughter Emily (Chris) Gibson, granddaughter  Saylor Gibson, best friends who were like brothers to him Steve (Cindy) Hesson, Randy (Jan) Mason, Mark (Jessica) Piatt, and Rocky (Chris) Csuvey, sister-in-law Linda Miracle and cats, brother-in-laws Carl (Melanie) Roberts and family, Tim (Jane) Roberts and family, and Dave Roberts and family, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his brother David Meredith, mother and father-in-law Beth and Jake Roberts, brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Sharon Hunter, nephews Doug Hunter and Ryan Meredith.

Pete did not wish to have a memorial service. Instead, he wanted his loved ones to remember a time you laughed and smiled together and let that memory bring you only happiness. Pete bids all a fond adieu as he has now gone “Waltzing Matilda Home.”

Donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley in memory of Pete.
