Rodney Miller Obituary

Rodney Alan Miller (44) of Lothian, MD, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in the early morning on October 8, 2021. Rodney was born on November 13, 1976 in Zanesville, Ohio to Alicia Anne Miller and the late Jimmie Holmes (2021).

Rodney grew up in the small town of Shawnee, Ohio, making memories with his large family;  while learning many of his greatest attributes and word of God from his Grandma Miller. Rodney was well known and loved by many.

Rodney was a 1995 graduate of Miller High School, graduating with honors and often bragged about “never even opening a book”. During High School Rodney was also a proud member of the FFA, and played on the Miller Falcon Football Team. After High School Rodney attended Hocking College and earned multiple degrees, ultimately becoming an IT Engineer for Telos.

On November 8, 2003, Rodney exchanged vows and entered into his loving marriage to Samantha Jane (Hinkle) Miller. During their marriage of 18 years two beautiful children were brought into this world, Brianna Nicole Miller and Conner Alan Miller. During his life on earth Rodney was most proud of his family and cherished every moment spent together.

Being the strong, brave person he was, Rodney chose to join the U.S. Army to protect our country and our freedoms. During 15 years of service he served 3 tours in Iraq, receiving an honorable discharge as a Sergeant. Flying the Red, White and Blue proudly in his yard for the rest of his life.

Rodney always enjoyed being surrounded by his family wearing his shades, holding a cold Mountain Dew or brew, eating a Reese’s Cup, shouting at an Ohio State Buckeyes game, bragging about his epic beard and driving around his YELLOW Jeep. Rodney was always carefree and left a big mark on anyone’s heart he met, those who knew him best knew that Rodney was the life of the party, played a mean air guitar, and couldn’t resist singing Don’t Stop Believin’ every time it came on.

Rodney leaves behind his wife Samantha, daughter Brianna and son Conner. His Mother and Step Father Alicia and Thomas Colvin, Brother Daniel (Jess) Woofter and their daughters Jasmin and Jayden, Brother-in-Law & Sister-In-Law Brian ("Bub") and Deanna Hinkle, his best buddy and niece Bailey Hinkle, Mother-In-Law Mary Hinkle, and multiple step siblings. Rodney also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, Brothers in Arms, extended family and numerous friends, along with his “spirit animal” and fur pup Piper.

Rodney was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Step Father Danny Woofter, Father-in- Law Samuel P. Hinkle Sr., and loving family fur companion Bowser.
