Roy W. Hina, 89, of Primrose Retirement Community, formerly of Avondale, passed away at 4:48 p.m. Friday February 17, 2023 at Genesis Hospital. He was born on August 30, 1933 in Roseville, a son of the late Edgar and Beulah Hina. He was employed as a mould maker at Zanesville Mould Co. for 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Roseville, Limestone Valley Lions Club, sold real estate for Cooper Realty and managed many rental properties. He was an avid gardener, card player, especially euchre, and enjoyed raising cattle and was a founding member of the Roseville Historical Society. He is survived by one daughter Darlene King (Chip Marlow). One son Derek Hina. Four grandchildren Stone King, McKenna King, Kristen (Robert) Ward, and Korey Hina. One great-grandson Benjamin Ward. One brother Gerald (Linda) Hina. Two sisters-in-law Rose Hina and Doris Hina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Myra Hina. One son Dwight Hina and his partner George Sanderson. Three brothers Bob Hina, Don (Evelyn) Hina, and John Hina. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday February 19, 2023 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday February 20, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Roseville with Rev. Mark Combs officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
