Ted Gates, 82, of Hopewell, on April 14th called by his savior, Jesus Christ, to take up his residence in heaven. Ted was a devoted christian, husband and father. Ted was retired from Borden Dairy, and the City of Zanesville. He was also a well-known and respected ball player and coach around the Zanesville area for decades. He leaves behind his loving wife, Beverly Gates, his children: Douglas (Judy) Gates, Cassie (Drew) Angle and Justin (Jennifer) Gates. Step-sons Terry (Dee) Henderson and Greg (Missy) Henderson. grand children: Shalene (Josh) Johnson, Mason Gates Johnathan (Nicole) O’Brien, Brant (Jennifer) O’Brien, Emily (Kyle) Dickinson, Emma Gates, Adam Gates. Step Grandchildren: Carly Westfall, Cayley Henderson, Gage Henderson, Ariel Henderson, Marissa Henderson and several great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace of 40 years, and infant son Robert Bartley, his parents Willard and Bessie Gates. He was also preceded in death by several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Per his wishes, no calling hours will be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Give Kids the World Village.
