It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Mount, who left us peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by his daughters. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, coach, and friend to many.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna (Davis) Mount; his loving wife, Cindy; his brother, Jim; and his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Don Winland. He is survived by his two devoted daughters, Melissa (Kyle) Riggle and Jaime (Jason) Schaumleffel, who brought him great pride and joy. Bill was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Madison (George) Souders, Jacob (Lauren Pickrell) Riggle, Leigha Schaumleffel, and Landon Schaumleffel. He cherished every moment spent with them. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Judy Mount, and several nieces and nephews.

Bill dedicated 35 years of his life to Big Bear, where he retired as the deli manager. A lifelong sports fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams—the Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Lions, and Cleveland Indians. His passion for the game was matched only by his love for family, especially watching his grandchildren play sports. As a young adult, he enjoyed coaching youth football in South Zanesville. In later years, he cherished the time he spent with his Southtown coffee buddies along with his monthly breakfasts at Bob Evans. Bill’s legacy will live on through the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at William Thompson and Son Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Rosehill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local youth sports program or a charity of your choice in Bill’s memory.
