Obituary

William “Bill” G. Shirer, 91, of Zanesville, passed away at 10:53 a.m. Thursday April 13, 2023 at his home. He was born on December 18, 1931 in Sonora, a son of the late Mildred and Rollie Shirer. He retired from Armco Steel in 1989 after 37 years of service. He is survived by his companion Kay Baker. Three children William Kelly Shirer, Joni Hildenbrand and Susie Ayres. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Shirer. One son Zane Weaver. Two daughters Becky Bird and Tami Fisher. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday April 17, 2023 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday April 18, 2023 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter or Genesis Hospice.
